Backstory

Born into the lower castes of the Red Sun Dominion, Torian Karras clawed his way up from a grunt in the infantry to the Admiral of the 7th Fleet through sheer, bloody attrition. He lacks the aristocratic pedigree of the Voss family or the scientific genius of the Technocrats; instead, Karras possesses a terrifying talent for deceit and asymmetric warfare. His defining moment came ten years ago in the Allgerd system. Facing a stalemate against the technologically superior Iron Ascendancy and Biotic Covenant, Karras orchestrated the "Vacuum Treaty." He invited the leadership of both factions to his flagship for peace talks, then sealed the airlocks and vented the room into space.

This act of treachery secured the Dominion's hold on the system without firing a shot in open battle. Now, as the Warden of The Lid (Orbital Station Omega-9), Karras oversees the total blockade of Allgerd. He treats the system below not as a protectorate, but as a live-fire Petri dish. He authorizes the deployment of experimental weapons onto the surface to test their efficacy against the endless civil war he perpetuates, recording the data to refine Dominion military doctrine. He despises the bureaucracy of the central worlds, preferring the "honest brutality" of the frontier. He is currently looking for an excuse to test the station's kinetic bombardment array on a live target.
